PET South America 2025 will receive a major boost this year with the participation of the Petfood Forum, a global conference and exhibition held annually in the United States, now making its debut in Brazil. The initiative stems from a partnership with NürnbergMesse Brasil, the event organizer behind the leading pet industry trade show in Latin America.

On August 14, two Petfood Forum Brasil seminars will take place in São Paulo as part of PET South America, offering an exclusive program for pet food industry professionals in Brazil. The agenda will highlight key market trends and the latest research in formulation, processing and production of pet food and treats.

Recognized as the only event in the world dedicated 100% to pet food, Petfood Forum brings integrated expertise to the Brazilian market through in-person activities designed for networking and the exchange of technical knowledge. In Brazil, the pet food sector generated BRL 75.4 billion in 2024 — a 9.6% increase compared to 2023, according to Abinpet (the Brazilian Association of the Pet Products Industry).

According to Guilherme Martinez, director of pet events at NürnbergMesse Brasil, this data underscores the importance of giving more visibility to the topic. “The partnership with Petfood Forum aligns with our strategy of connecting professionals, companies and experts with the latest trends and the key demands of the market. We are always on the lookout for industry innovations and are committed to opening new business opportunities at PET South America,” he explained.

The arrival of the Petfood Forum brand in Brazil is part of a broader initiative by Petfood Industry and WATT Global Media — organizers of the conference — which also includes the launch of a dedicated news portal and a weekly newsletter. These channels will feature technical content, market data and innovations in ingredients, packaging, marketing and pet consumer behavior.

“For many years, we’ve served the Brazilian market with specialized content in English. Now, we’re speaking the same language as the third-largest pet market in the world, with original content in Portuguese,” celebrated Steve Akins, executive vice president/publisher of global petfood and events at WATT Global Media.

This partnership with NürnbergMesse Brasil is not the group’s first collaboration. Since 2022, Petfood Forum Europe has been held at Interzoo — the world’s largest pet industry trade fair, also organized by the multinational.
