12:00-1:00 | Update on the Brazilian pet food market: Trends and outlook
Iván Franco, founder of Triplethree International Market Research, shares an overview of the Brazilian pet food market, including the latest retail data and where the country fits in the global market. 1:00-2:30 | Lunch

2:30-3:30  |  What if protein is no longer just protein?
Ally Motta, senior product and application specialist for MicroHarvest, invites you to move beyond thinking of protein as a commodity and consider what its future in pet food might look like. For decades, the industry has evaluated proteins primarily through the lens of nutrition: amino acid profile, digestibility and cost. As pets have become family members, consumers are looking for products that support health, wellness and quality of life; while, manufacturers are challenged to improve production efficiency, differentiate their brands and deliver innovation in an increasingly competitive landscape. The most important question is no longer how much protein an ingredient contains, but what else it can do. Using microbial protein as a case study, this session will challenge conventional thinking about how proteins are evaluated and explore how emerging ingredients may create value beyond nutrition, contributing to functionality, manufacturing performance and product innovation.

3:30-4:30 | Preventing critical contamination in pet food facilities: Risk management and modern control strategies
Franklin Guarisma, food safety and strategies director for Global Food Safety International addresses the practical application of the requirements of the Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA) – Preventive Controls for Animal Food, with a focus on risk management and the identification and control of biological, chemical and physical hazards associated with pet food production. He discusses strategies for preventing contamination by pathogens, mycotoxins, chemical residues, nutritional deviations and foreign objects using a risk-based approach that integrates hazard analysis, preventive controls, monitoring, verification and supply chain management. The goal is to demonstrate how effective risk management and robust preventive systems contribute to food safety, regulatory compliance and brand protection.

4:30-5:30 | Advances in the use of probiotics in pet food
Ananda Portella Félix, DVM, MSc, Ph,D., professor and researcher in pet nutrition at Universidade Federal do Paraná, will address: General concepts regarding probiotics; Main microorganisms used for dogs and cats; Latest scientific evidence on the use of probiotics; and Future trends in the use of probiotics.

5:30-7:30 | Networking Happy Hour
