Petfood Forum recently spoke with Leah Scott, senior manager of food safety and quality for Earth Animal. Leah was selected as a First For Forum Ambassador for the 2025 event.

First For Forum offers pet food professionals who have never attended in the past a chance to attend the show at no cost. Ambassadors are selected through a nomination process.

We are pleased to welcome Leah to Petfood Forum on April 28-30, 2025, in Kansas City, Missouri.


What are you looking forward to the most at Petfood Forum?

Leah: I’m looking forward to seeing all the coming innovations in pet food. I think it’s exciting to see the parallels between people food and pet food and learn about the potential to elevate product quality standards for our pets.

What are you hoping to accomplish at Petfood Forum?

Leah: I’m hoping to learn as much as I can about the pet food industry as a whole and bring back any information I gain to improve the Earth Animal product line.

Which exhibitors are you looking forward to visiting?

Leah: I’m looking forward to seeing McCormick Flavor Solutions! I always enjoy their presentations; they usually have a very thorough approach to flavoring and sensory science.

Which educational sessions are you looking forward to?

Leah: I’m looking forward to the session on human food, pet food and sustainability. That seems like it aligns perfectly with the Earth Animal mission.

Are you planning to do anything fun while you’re in Kansas City?

Leah: I’m planning on visiting the Black Archives of Mid-America and having some famous Kansas City BBQ.

About Leah:

Leah is the Sr. Manager of Food Safety and Quality at Earth Animal Ventures. She has a proven track record in the food manufacturing and quality sectors. Holding a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Morgan State University, she is HACCP certified and an SQFI Code 9 Auditor. Her expertise spans a wide range of skills including quality assurance, auditing, being a sought-after sensory panelist, and a number of other talents related to food science and product development. Leah’s passion for food and science can also be seen in her daily activities. She enjoys cooking for her family, painting, crafting and creating charcuterie boards. She is also a devoted pet parent to two rescue cats: a spicy tuxedo named Timber and a loveable Norwegian Forest cat named Duchess; they motivate her to do her very best to create and produce products that she’d be happy to serve.
