Sustainability roundup: Assessing the environmental sustainability of common pet food protein sources — Caitlyn Dudas, executive director and co-founder, Pet Sustainability Coalition, shares new research on the environmental sustainability of different protein sources commonly used in companion animal food and treats. This research will equip pet food industry nutritionists, formulators and manufacturers with data on the environmental and nutritional impacts of different types of protein. This session helps participants make environmentally sustainable and nutritionally sound decisions when sourcing common protein ingredients, based on companion pets’ indispensable amino acid requirements.

Experience:

Dudas is the executive director and co-founder of the Pet Sustainability Coalition, a nonprofit that advances business through environmental and social business practices. Dudas is a 2019 Woman of Influence recipient, winner of the 2019 Vanguard award, and a 2017 40 Under 40 award recipient in honor of her innovative approach to bring together industry leaders to strengthen their businesses, while also driving the pet industry toward a future where pets, people and planet prosper. Dudas has grown the Coalition from eight founding companies to a thriving community of nearly 200 engaged companies. She leads the Coalition from Boulder Colorado where she completed her bachelor’s degree in environmental studies and economics at the University of Colorado. She also holds a master’s degree in environmental management and sustainability from Harvard University.
