Extru-Tech president counts on face-to-face interactions at Petfood Forum

Petfood Forum recently sat down with Scott Krebs, president & COO, Extru-Tech, Inc., to learn about the face-to-face interactions and knowledge he has gained from the annual conference and exhibition over the years.

Petfood Forum: What is your earliest memory of Petfood Forum, and what role did you have in the industry at that point?

Krebs: The earliest memories are from my early responsibility in equipment sales making trips to Chicago. Digital communication was not as easy and consistent as it is here in 2022. I was excited to meet face-to-face with industry professionals and learn more about the companion animal world.

Petfood Forum: What do you consider the biggest challenge or opportunity ahead for the pet food industry?

Krebs: The humanization trends in companion animal nutrition means novel ingredient inclusion. There are challenges in nutrition, supply chain and processing. However, these same challenges present an opportunity to meet consumer preference. The opportunity to further get into the trenches with our client base and innovate alongside them is exciting. We have a multitude of projects in the hopper moving to execution that engage our clients in safety, quality, operational excellence and profitability.

Petfood Forum: Why do you continue to attend Petfood Forum, and why should pet food industry professionals join us?

Krebs: Petfood Forum has always been a fantastic opportunity to connect, learn, build friendships and conduct business.

Petfood Forum: What’s your recommendation for Kansas City fun during Petfood Forum in May?

Krebs: Kansas City has a multitude of attractions. Difficult to narrow them down to just a few, but for me it all starts with BBQ (sorry Texas, Tennessee & Carolina)!  Bonding with colleagues & clients over a great meal creates friendships. BBQ sauce dripping down your arms is the ultimate icebreaker and lets others really see who you are!  I have a favorite but try them all and make your own decision.
