Dan Lorenzen-Schmidt is a commercial and sustainability leader with more than two decades of experience across the snacking and pet care industries. As head of global key accounts, wet pet food research and development and sustainability at BHJ A/S, a global pet food ingredient supplier of animal proteins, he oversees partnerships with major industry players while guiding BHJ’s innovation and sustainability roadmap. Under Lorenzen-Schmidt’s leadership, the company now provides LCAs for all products globally and is on track to reach 100% renewable energy in Scope 1 and 2 by 2030 (currently at 75%), while advancing ambitious Scope 3 initiatives including collaboration with meat producers to reduce emissions at farm level, upcycling of side streams and integration of novel protein sources. Previously, he served as category leader for protein within Mars Petcare after beginning his career at Lorenz Bahlsen in supply chain management and advancing to strategic sourcing manager.
