Experience:
Katie Simpson is the pet food specialist with the Office of Indiana State Chemist. In this role, she regulates pet food through labeling reviews and compliance. She is a member of the Association of American Feed Control Officials (AAFCO) and serves on the Pet Food and Ingredient Definitions Committees. Simpson received her bachelor of science in animal agribusiness from Purdue University, then worked on a swine feed research farm as a nursery research specialist. She then returned to Purdue and worked in animal husbandry with the many species of teaching and research animals in the College of Veterinary Medicine. While in this role, she obtained certifications for laboratory animal technician through the American Association for Laboratory Animal Science.
