Ph.D. candidate makes pet food industry connections at Petfood Forum

Petfood Forum recently spoke with Logan Kilburn, Ph.D. candidate at Kansas State University about attending the annual event as an upcoming pet food professional.

Petfood Forum: When did you first attend Petfood Forum? What was your industry role or student status at that time, and what is your role now?

Kilburn: I first attended Petfood Forum in April of 2017. I was starting my master’s at Iowa State that fall and my advisor invited me to join her. It was a great introduction to the industry! I have attended every year since! I am currently a Ph.D. student at Kansas State working with Dr. Aldrich.

Petfood Forum: Can you give us an update on any student research you presented at Petfood Forum?

Kilburn: My goal is to have all my lab work completed for my Ph.D. program in the next few months. I will then begin drafting manuscripts for publication.

Petfood Forum: Why do you continue to attend Petfood Forum, and why should pet food industry professionals join us?

Kilburn: Petfood Forum is the perfect opportunity to make connections and showcase new research. It has allowed me to meet so many great people in the industry! Industry professionals can also get to know talented students as prospective employees.

Petfood Forum: What’s your recommendation for Kansas City fun during Petfood Forum in May?

Kilburn: I highly recommend a night at the Howl at the Moon. It’s a dueling piano bar!
