New recyclable structures for pet food packaging – Dawn MacDonald, innovation, research and development manager, Emmerson Packaging, and Nancy Conley, technical service and application development specialist for NOVA Chemicals, educates pet food producers on recyclable packaging options. There has been a significant evolution in pet food packaging over the past ten years, and consumers today are increasingly looking for sustainable packaging that can contribute to a more circular economy. The presentation will show current single material packages that have been developed to compete with the current multi-material offerings that have limited recyclability. Participants will leave the presentation with a broader knowledge of possible pet food packaging alternatives that offer a more sustainable option.
Experience:
MacDonald graduated from Acadia university with a bachelor’s degree in Chemistry. She has worked in the plastics industry for 24 years providing technical support. For the past 11 years, she has lead the innovation and research and development department at Emmerson Packaging with a particular focus on developing sustainable packaging solutions.
