Presentation description:

Reducing waste in extruder treat productio – Paul Morlock and Matthew Cottam examine the sources of waste in the extrusion of treats and what can be done to minimize or eliminate them. Variability in processing, particularly extruder output, is often poorly controlled or understood, but can be mechanically controlled without individual flow restrictors and manual intervention, thus lowering process variability costs.

Experience:

Cottam is a specialist in sugar confectionery and extruded snack and treat manufacture, with a 30-year history in process engineering design. He has a background in mechanical engineering and is a chartered engineer. Since joining Frazer-Nash, Cottam has developed new systems for micro-dosing of powders and post-extruder mixing systems. He has developed several propriety systems for customers around the world.
