Petfood R&D Showcase 2019 features a new and highly relevant theme, “Leveraging Science into Product Innovation.”
“This topic should speak to every part of modern pet food and appeal to any company, employee, or new entrant to this market that hopes to gain an edge over the competition,” said Greg Aldrich, PhD, research associate professor and coordinator for the pet food program at Kansas State University.
Keynote and scientific presentations
Natasha Davis, strategic client partner with Nielsen, will provide the lunch keynote presentation. Davis will share a perspective on pet food growth in the U.S. through the lens of premiumization and how it is affected by marketing, science and consumer preference.
Petfood R&D Showcase will also feature four scientific presentations that have a direct connection to ideas pet food manufacturers and suppliers can incorporate into their product offerings. Presentation topics include behaviors as biomarkers for animal health and welfare, pathogen contamination, strategies to prevent mite infestation and factors influencing starch digestibility.
6 engaging supplier-led sessions where attendees will:
- Apply naturally sourced colors to pet food
- Learn how flavors can enhance pet food and treats
- Formulate pet products that cross the blood-brain barrier
- Discover tips for reducing the risk of Salmonella contamination
- Produce a specialty treat using single screw extrusion
- Leverage microencapsulated technologies
Early bird registration for Petfood R&D Showcase is now open, providing attendees with the opportunity to save $200. To ensure the quality of the demonstrations, space is limited.
